Join a virtual, professional learning network of science educators from across the state of Illinois to read, discuss, and share experiences related to the book Ready, Set, Science!
Ready, Set, Science! provides a groundbreaking and comprehensive synthesis of research into teaching and learning science in kindergarten through eighth grade. The research is combined with classroom case studies that bring to life the research findings and help readers to replicate success. The findings of the research presented in the book became the foundation on which the Illinois Learning Standards in Science were constructed.
Virtual meetings of the Book Club will be held using Zoom. The first meeting will be from 3:30-4:30 on September 25th. Subsequent meetings will be held every other Wednesday, with the last meeting taking place on November 20th. Participants will also be encouraged to use #ILSciEdBookClub on Twitter to share classroom connections and reflections between virtual meetings.
Participants have the option of earning three Professional Development hours for participation in the book study by submitting responses to reflection questions associated with each chapter.
